THE HANS FOGH FUND
The Hans Fogh Fund was created in December of 2009 (as a fund in the Ontario Sailing Endowment) to help continue the growth of high performance programming in Ontario.
Hans Fogh bought his first boat when he was 17 and, two years later, claimed his first championship at Copenhagen. Soon after he took a job with Olympic and World Champion sailor Paul Elvstrom.
In 1960 he won the European Flying Dutchman title as well as a Silver Medal at the Olympics. He also claimed Flying Dutchman titles at the 1962 Worlds and 1964 Kiel Week.
Immigrating to Canada in 1969, and receiving citizenship in 1975, Hans qualified for the National Sailing Team in 1976. He led the Canadian Team to glory at numerous international sailing championship events over the next two decades, sailing Solings and Flying Dutchmans. In the 1984 Olympics he, along with John Kerr and Steve Calder, won a Bronze Medal in the Soling class.
Hans remains heavily involved in the sailing community both in racing and the industry.
