Lifesaving Society Awards Ontario Sailing with the 2004 McBean Cup!

Phil McBean presents Amy Goman (Ontario Sailing Program Director) with McBean Cup
The McBean Cup is presented annually to the affiliate with the largest boat training program in Ontario. In 2004, Ontario Sailing certified 2,010 individuals with their Boat Rescue. Amy Goman, a program director at Ontario Sailing accepted the award on behalf of Ontario Sailing.
Instructors across the country are required to have many certifications, one of which includes an on water safety certification (Boat Rescue, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross or NLS). The Boat Rescue course is perfect for sailing instructors as it provides sport specific training regarding potential emergency situations that may be seen through out any given sailing season. The course encompasses evaluation in first aid knowledge, treading water, rescue of a non-breathing victim, rescue of a man overboard, and rescue of an unconcious victim, as well as demonstrating the H.E.L.P. (Heat Escape Lessening Position) and huddle positions, and much much more. As a result of the Boat Rescue certification, it is with confidence that instructors in Ontario are ready to handle emergencies when running their own classes at their respective clubs.
Thank you to the Lifesaving Society for their recognition.
