The Ontario Sailing 2009 Dinghy Provincial Championships will be used to determine the candidates who will compete in the 2010 Ontario Summer Games as well as used to determine athletes who will be invited to join the Ontario Sailing Development Team.

For 2010, the top 4 athletes from the 2009 Dinghy Provincial Championships will be named to the new Ontario Sailing Development Team (a fee for the team will be announced in early 2010).
This team will be used for talent identification for our training centres and High Performance
Coach
. These Athletes will be invited to a Development Team Camp held in 2010.

Summer Games Team
The top Laser and Radial (8 male, 8 Female) and top eight 420 teams (mixed male/female) from the 2009 Dinghy Provincial Championships will be invited to attend the Ontario Summer Games being held in Sudbury, ON in August, 2010 (participation fee TBA). (Age limit may prevent participation presently set at 16, however, Ontario Sailing is currently petitioning to increase the age limit.)
The following has been approved by the Ontario Sailing Board of Directors as hosts for the 2009 Ontario Sailing Qualifying Series Events and Dinghy Provincial Championships.

In order for an athlete to qualify to compete in the Provincial Championships they must do the following things
- Compete in a minimum of 3 of the 5 qualifying events
- Pay a $25 qualification registration fee by the deadline (detail to be posted on the Ontario Sailing website soon).
- Be ranked in the top ten of the class, based on the scoring of the athlete's best 3 qualification events.
The Provincial Championships are open to the following classes only:
Laser (overall not by sex), Radial (overall not by sex), Optimist (overall not by fleet), 29er (overall not by sex), 420 (overall not by sex)
