The Ontario Sailing Team Laser and Radial athletes traveled down to Clearwater Florida for a training camp organized by the Canadian Yachting Association and hosted by the Clearwater Sailing Center.  Coaches Tommy Wharton and Brian Todd were on hand running drills and working with athletes in preparation for the Mid-winter event starting February 24^th.

The great thing about training in Florida in February is that there is a wide variety of training conditions.   This particular camp we saw a day of excellent 15knot winds and sunshine, and a couple of days of light winds, periodic soupy fog, and warm muggy temperatures.  One thing that was very apparent was the importance of having all the proper equipment…….like a compass.

With the regatta starting February 24^th, the brush up on the rusty skills will definitely be an asset.  We look forward to seeing all the hard work pay off in the next few days.
