PFD Wear - Yes or No?

Ontario Sailing is a member of the Canadian Safe Boating Council (CSBC) and also works with Transport Canada, the Recreational Boating Advisory Council (RBAC) and the Canadian Marine Advisory Council (CMAC) on behalf of its members.

The CSBC PFD Task Force created a "Best Practices" position as follows:
"The CSBC believes that all operators of all sizes and types of kayaks, canoes and self propelled vessels and all types of other craft that are 6 metres or less in length, while passengers are on deck and while the boat is underway, should wear lifejackets or PFDs."

Lifejackets and PFDs come in many various styles and types and some of these include inflatable PFDs.
