Changes to CYA Recertification Policy

As of July 1st, 2010, the CYA has changed its policy with respect to LTS/R/W Instructor Recertifications.  This responsibility has been turned over to the PSAs.  For information on the changes, please click here.

Instructors will now have to:
  • Attend an appropriate (coaching related) Professional Development (PD) module conducted by a LF or MLF during which the recertifying coach is evaluated on professionalism; OR
  • Attend a portion of a technical clinic to demonstrate on land and on water coaching conducted by a LF or MLF (including successful evaluation of safety and professionalism); OR
  • Successfully complete a re-evaluation by an Evaluator.

LTS/R/W Instructors who have allowed their certification(s) to lapse will also have to submit a coaching/sailing resume and reference letter.

Ontario Sailing will be holding recertification clinics in the spring and summer.  When registration is open, you will find them on our Schedule of Instructor Courses page.

If you have any further questions, please contact the Program Director via email or by calling 1-888-672-7245 ext. 226.
