Why Become a CYA Certified Instructor??
Canadian Yachting Association certified instructors are amongst the most highly trained instructors in sport. Countries such as Bermuda, Grand Cayman, Barbados, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand have all recruited and hired Canadian instructors to run their programs. Even within Canada, yacht clubs and sailing schools have a high demand for certified instructors. What a great way to spend the summer!
Another benefit to becoming a certified instructor is developing many skills that are desirable in the working world. Colleges and Universities have identified the same skills as being critical to a successful graduate. Leadership, public speaking, teamwork, communication, organization, and planning are just a few skills that the Instructor Development Program teaches and evaluates.

Ontario Sailing runs all instructor courses in Ontario. Courses are run in the Spring of each year and we begin posting them on our Registration page in the middle of January.
Refer to the list below to locate courses for the various pre-requisites.
- CYA Fundamentals Course - this is a course run by Ontario Sailing and will be offered in the Fall, Winter and Spring of each year. Check our Registration page for upcoming courses.
