The Alice Boston Fund
An Ontario Sailing Endowment
The Boston Family and members of the Sarnia Yacht Club have set up the Alice Boston Endowment Fund to honour Alice and her contributions to sailing. Investment returns in the Alice Boston Fund are to be used to support competitive sailing in the Sarnia area, as recommended by the board of directors and approved by the trustees as named by the Boston family.
The Alice Boston Sailing Fund is important to Ontario Sailing because as the Fund grows, it will provide a stable source of funding for many programs. All donations contributed to the Alice Boston Sailing Fund will be maintained within the Fund and only the interest earned from the Fund will be used to support our programs.

About Alice Boston
Alice Boston passed away unexpectedly in her home on Feb. 21, 2010. The
Boston
family owns and operates Doyle Boston Sailmakers in
Sarnia
and
Alice
ran the business end of the company for forty years.
Alice
was the rock of her family and driving force behind much of their sailing and sailing campaigns. Sons Brad and Tac are still active sailors in the international scene and Brad represented
Canada
in both the 1996 and 2000 Olympics in sailing.
Alice and her family are credited with being one of the main reasons that there is such an active
racing
program at the Sarnia Yacht Club. While never wanting to be in the spotlight,
Alice
was always involved in regatta organization making sure that all the food and fine details were looked after and that the events ran well. She was a co-chair of the Sarnia SailFest for 10 years a large youth regatta held every July that sees around 200 boats participate and that many make sure they attend every year. She was also very active in promoting Junior Sailing.
Alice Boston will be greatly missed by many family and friends and her love and support of the sport of sailing will be hard to duplicate. Sailing definitely lost a Great Supporter and Sailor in Alice Boston.
