First Annual Golf Classic - A Great Day On The Course!
In Support of the Hans Fogh Fund
An Ontario Sailing Endowment Fund
Wednesday, September 15, 2010
Piper's Heath Golf Course
Milton, ON
The first Annual Ontario Sailing Golf Classic presented by VELUX 5 Oceans took place on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Piper's Heath Golf Course in Milton. Over 100 participants enjoyed a fun day on the golf course to help support high performance athletes through the Hans Fogh Fund.
Participants were treated to a barbeque lunch, a putting competition, and 18 holes of golf. Dinner was followed by a raffle, silent and live auctions and the presentation of many prizes for Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, Club Challenge, Most Honest Foursome, and Best Foursome. Although nobody took home the Harley Davidson for a hole-in-one, it didn't seem to dampen the spirits of the participants.
The highlight of the night was a live auction opportunity to win a trip for two to Charleston, South Carolina. This all-inclusive getaway included premier accommodations at the Charleston Place Hotel and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to board the 'Spirit of Carolina' and watch the Eco 60 sailboats launch into the final leg of the VELUX 5 Oceans' race in May 2011. Spa treatments, tours, and excellent dining experiences rounded out his great trip and Tom Bolland from the Barrie Yacht Club walked away with the prize.
In addition to this fabulous Charleston trip, former Olympians Hans Fogh, Bernard Luttmer, and Terry McLaughlin each offered a day of coaching to the highest bidder and three lucky recipients walked away with these prizes.
Ontario Sailing would like to thank:

HUB: Did You Know...?
Is Your Boat Properly Insured?
As a consumer, you need to be aware of what exclusions are noted in your coverage. You could unknowingly be putting your hard earned investments at risk. While coverage varies from company to company, the following are some common exclusions on many boat insurance policies:
- normal wear and tear / deterioration
- underwater freezing
- mold / rotting / vermin
- floorboards
- upholstery/canvas/foam packing
You may also need additional coverage for boat trailers and other high-cost accessories.
Want to reduce your premium? Consider installing a burglar alarm and/or participating in a boating education class.
