In order to participate in the Provincial Championships sailors must participate in a minimum of three of the five Qualifying regattas AND pay a one time registration fee to Ontario Sailing of $25.00. This registration fee is above and beyond the cost of the regattas and is not included in any of the regatta prices. It only has to be paid once during the season and must be paid per sailor, not per boat. However, if a sailor does not pay the registration fee their scores cannot be considered to qualify to participate in the Provincial Championships. Members of the Ontario Sailing Team/Quest For Gold Team need to participate in one of the five Qualifying regattas in order to be considered for the Provincial Championships.
Classes that will be participating in the Provincial Championships are as follows:

· Access to expert coaching staff
Carolyn Gagnon, Sailing School Director at the Lake Joseph Yacht Club in the Muskokas has this to say about the benefit her club has received from Ontario Sailing- We have had incredible support from the staff at Ontario Sailing. They have arranged for us to have Blue and Green Instructor clinics at our club in the summer, helped certify all our instructors as PCOC instructors, assisted in our successful application for a Trillium Grant as well as wage subsidies for summer staff and much more. All we had to do was ask and they were always very eager to help and in fact, they often had solutions to problems that our rapidly growing club hadnt even identified yet. I would encourage every club in
Ontario
to become actively engaged with Ontario Sailing to help with whatever your sailing club needs may be.
In order to make it easier for Ontario Sailing Members to stay up to date on what Ontario Sailing has to offer, we would like to encourage each club to provide a contact person who will be their
Ontario
Sailing Ambassador. There is no cost and no work to be done these ambassadors will simply be the most appropriate person in a club who should receive occasional emails/mailings highlighting the latest information about upcoming events and services Ontario Sailing has to offer.
If you are interested in making the most of your Ontario Sailing Membership, please email the contact name, address and email address to:
ambassadors@ontariosailing.ca. A spring package will be sent out shortly to all ambassadors, including a small gift to thank you for joining our ambassador team.

Mandatory PFD Wear Survey
Ontario Sailing is a member of the Canadian Safe Boating Council (CSBC) and works with Transport Canada, the Recreational Boating Advisory Council (RBAC), and the Canadian Marine Advisory Council (CMAC) on behalf of its members.
The CSBC PFD Task Force created a "Best Practices" position as follows:
"The CSBC believes that all operators of all sizes and types of kayaks, canoes and self propelled vessels and all types of other craft that are 6 metres or less in length, while passengers are on deck and while the boat is underway, should wear lifejackets or PFDs."
Lifejackets and PFDs come in many various styles and types and some of these include inflatable PFDs.
Please go to our
Mandatory PFD Wear Survey and take a moment to answer whether or not you agree with the above statement. Thank you!
