Canadian Rolex Sailor of the Year Announced
The Board of Directors of the Canadian Yachting Association proudly declares that Frederik Eaton of Toronto, ON is the winner of the 2010 Canadian Rolex Sailor of the Year Award.
Fred Eaton was selected from Canadian sailors who were nominated for their outstanding sailing performances during 2010. His crowning achievement was the retention of the International C Class Catamaran Championship in Newport, Rhode Island in August, partnering with Magnus Clarke. Runnerup James Spithill, the 2010 Americas Cup winning helm, said in a letter supporting Freds nomination: Glenn Ashby and I were fortunate enough to have Fred offer his winning C Class Catamaran for the C Class Championship in Newport. He could have easily not chartered it out, but Fred did, and gave it to a couple of guys who were at that time on the top of their game. This to me shows how much of a competitor Fred is and that he wanted to win by beating the best and winning on the water.
The Canadian Rolex Sailor of the Year Award Presentation dinner will take place on Saturday, February 26th, 2011 at
The Carlu in Toronto, Ontario. A special highlight of the evening's itinerary is the keynote address from world class sailor, television commentator, author, America's Cup winner and US Sailing President Gary Jobson. The Canadian Rolex Sailor of the Year event is the premier opportunity for Canadians to recognize the achievements and successes of Canadian sailors. Attend this event and have an opportunity to mingle with Olympic medalists and World Champions.

HUB: Did You Know...?
Take Inventory of Your Possessions Now!
Quick, whats the make and model of your television? When did you buy it? How much did it cost?
If youre like most people, you take such things for granted. You bought it and it works. End of story. But what if you had to replace it and ALL of your other possessions? After a fire or a break-in, an inevitably stressful time, do you think you could remember all the details that went into making your house a home and what everything cost? Its amazing how many things we collect over time!
Take the time now to make a record of your possessions and minimize the worry later.
Click here to access the Know Your Stuff home inventory tool.
Important documents like bills, receipts, warranties and instruction manuals should be included in your inventory they can serve as proof of ownership. Simply scan the document and attach it to your inventory file. You can attach photos of your possessions too. When you are done, burn the inventory file to a CD, an external hard drive or some other storage device and keep it in a safe place like a fire-proof box or safety deposit box and review it annually. A video of your home and all your possessions will work too. Be sure to describe the items and how much they are worth when recording your video.
