Racing Around The World Alone To Premiere on CBC

Wind Athletes Canada is pleased to announce Racing Around the World Alone, the compelling story of the 2008-2009 Vendée Globe sailing race, is available for iTunes downloadRacing Around the World Alone will premiere on the CBC documentary channel on January 31st, 2011 at 21:00 EST and 22:00 PT.  www.racingaroundtheworldalone.com

Racing Around the World is the story of the 2008-2009 Vendée Globe race.  30 skippers embark on a quest to be the fastest to sail 27,000 miles around the world, non-stop, without assistance and alone on 60 foot sailboats.  This is one of the most extreme challenges a human being can face.  The sailors are alone at sea for months and physical and emotional strength are essential.  Growlers (icebergs), sea mammals, and massive waves are a constant danger.  On any day the forces of nature can bring an end to the best sailor’s well made plans.  They harness the wind, hope for safe passage over the sea and push hard to win.  Wind Athletes Canada, in collaboration with Miz Monday Productions and Resolve Films, is pleased to share their story.

HUB: Did You Know...?

Buying Your Boat Insurance Goes Beyond Pricing

A lower price can be appealing for any product.  Insurance is no different.  However, a lower price can sometimes translate into lower coverage or poor service.  The unfortunate result is that people are surprised when their policy doesn’t cover everything they thought it did.  Unlike auto insurance, there is no standardization of coverage from one company to another for marine insurance.

The best way to ensure proper coverage is to consult your broker and see if they have a marine specialist on hand.  Most brokerages don’t employ one and direct writers (companies that don’t use brokers) only have access to one product so you might even have to shop around.

Another detail to consider is that coverage and exclusions vary from company to company.  It is important to inform your broker of what you will be using your vessel for and where you will be travelling with it.  You do not want to find out at the time of a claim that you do not have proper coverage.

At HUB, we house the largest variety of insurance companies.  We are an international organization with the personal touch of local offices, dedicated in-house service and claims specialists, and the resource of marine experts on our team.

Contact HUB and we can provide you with a quote for boats, yachts, and seadoos.

As a member of Ontario Sailing, you may be eligible for the Latitude program.  This exclusive program boasts many enhancements to meet the needs of the boating community at no extra charge.  Call 1.888.717.S A I L  (7245)
